Described in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2006 as ‘A big, sweet, chunky, gawky, grainlashed but hugely enjoyable blend.’ Pigs Nose is an exceptionally fine five year old blended whisky, created by Richard Patterson, Scotland’s only third generation master blender as a companion for Sheep Dip – for week days but not for the Christmas Cake. The blend contains a high percentage (40%) of malt whiskies, principally from Speyside imbuing the product with their characteristic softness; the name comes from the farming expression ’soft as a pig’s nose.’ Colour: Rich, golden copper highlights. Nose: Delicate and refined. Soft sensual floral notes arise in perfect harmony supported by an attractive array of complex fruit flavours. Melon, pear and orange with a hint of almonds conclude this profusion of charming nuances. Taste: Finesse and elegance gives way to a majestic assertion of pure malty flavours drawn from the four distilling regions of Scotland. Each area forges and makes its own inimitable contribution to this outstanding pure malt – the main accent being expressed from the Highlands and Speyside Valleys. scottish whisky

Dewar’s 12 is a perfectly balanced marriage of carefully selected 12 year old malt and grain Scotch whiskies, created by Dewar’s sixth Master Blender, Tom Aitken. This perfectly balanced taste is achieved through the marrying process, originally pioneered by the first Master Blender, A J Cameron. Only malt and grain whiskies of the highest quality are used to create this rich, fruity and delightfully mellow whisky. The Marrying Process The Dewar’s marrying process takes fine Scotch whiskies at their peak of perfection and improves upon them. Having created a blend of the finest Scotch whiskies from the different regions of Scotland, Dewars Master Blender then allows them to rest for a further period in exclusively reserved vintage oak casks, ensuring that their individual flavours and aromas harmonise to achieve the perfectly balanced and exceptionally smooth Scotch that is Dewar’s 12. Marrying these superb whiskies adds a smoothness that science cannot explain, but which your taste will at once discern. Limited Edition Each and every bottle is numbered and stands as a mark of exclusivity, with Dewar’s guarantee of quality. Deep amber and rich. A full fruity nose, blending together sultanas and raisins with a hint of Scottish heather, forming a perfectly balanced, mellow whisky. A rich, fruity sweetness, giving way to a well rounded warm mouth feel with just a hint of oak. A rounded, medium to full bodied whisky. A long, full flavoured, lingering finish. scottish whisky

Ledaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced at the Tobermory Distillery, which is the only distillery on the picturesque Hebridean Isle of Mull. Thus, of all the world-famous whisky distilling regions of Scotland ( Speyside, Highland, Islay, the various Islands, Lowland, Campbeltown) only Tobermory and Ledaig represent an opportunity to experience Malt Whisky from this particular region. Ledaig, unlike Tobermory, is distilled from heavily peated malted barley. During the malting process, burning peat is used to dry the barley in a kiln. The reek from the burning peat is absorbed by the barley through the husk of the grain, and the reek remains through the mashing, fermentation and distillation processes, eventually leading to a superior single malt with a highly distinctive peaty, smoky taste. That malt is Ledaig, a superb, intricate Island Malt Scotch Whisky. scottish whisky

Jim Murray describes Sheep Dip in his 2006 Whisky Bible as ‘Young and sprightly like a new-born lamb, this enjoys a fresh, mouthwatering grassy style with a touch of spice. Maligned by some but to me a clever accomplished vatting of alluring complexity’. Much mythology has grown up around whisky but in reality a great whisky does not have to be the product of one distillery nor should its age be a measure of quality. Richard Paterson, Scotland’s renowned and only third generation master blender created the Sheep Dip vatting by marrying together several single malt whiskies. The whiskies are aged between eight and twelve years in quality ‘first fill wood,’ each adding unique characteristics to produce an exceptional product. Sheep Dip despite its iconoclastic name is a genuinely great whisky. The name came about because British farmers have long referred to whisky as Sheep Dip. There was a time when farmers distilled their own ‘home-made’ whisky and in order to avoid paying taxes to the revenue man hid the whisky in barrels marked ‘Sheep Dip’. Farmers’ merchants continued this tradition by entering cases of whisky as Sheep dip on farmers’ bills and so ‘pulling the wool’ over the farmers wives eyes. Colour: Rich, golden copper highlights. Nose:n Delicate and refined.
